Mance Lipscomb
One of my favorite memories was the chance to meet Mance Lipscomb, The Texas blues songster, better known as Navasota Mance Lipscomb.
John Lomax, Mance and I would go out to Washington On The Brazos State Park, and walk, talk, and sing around those tables that overlooked the Brazos river.
I didn't much think about this at the time, but the years have made me reflect, and realize that John and Mance were a real gift to me. I was the one person, who could move into the breach, and handle a very difficult problem. Caring for an older person (John), who had only part of a brain. God was watching over all of us at that time. That's the only way all this could have ever happened and happened successfully.
